    The Fairmount Avenue Arts Crawl is a free annual, indoor/outdoor festival for art lovers of all mediums, which transforms the Art Museum Area of Philadelphia into an eclectic showcase of local artists and performers in its streets, restaurants, businesses, shops and bars. The event features emerging and ground-breaking artists in a range of media including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and mixed-media. The festival includes more than 40 exhibits in all! Children and families participate in craft-making activities, face painting, sidewalk chalk art and other entertainment. Each year the event attracts over 4,000 visitors to the Art Museum Area neighborhoods of Philadelphia.

    Venues are businesses or other physical locations in the Art Museum Area that wish to host an artist or program. They are listed on the "crawl" map with a description of their hosted artist / program. It is $125 (for GAMBA members) or $150 (non-members) to be an official venue.

    Attention local designers, makers, craftspeople...

    Design Crawl participation is 50% off for the first 10 businesses in the Art Museum Area to register thanks to sponsorship from Fairmount CDC.

    Open your doors to the community as part of the design crawl! Design crawls will take place from 4-7pm over 5 days of the festival and are divided by neighborhood. The 2017 DesignPhiladelphia Festival will take place October 5th-14th.

    As a host, all we ask is that you open your doors during your neighborhood’s time slot and invite guests into your space. Just keep it simple with tours and hellos, and maybe some refreshments! People will be coming and going, so you don’t want to plan on any content that requires a specific timeline.

    Friday, October 6th: Old City
    Monday, October 9th: Center City
    Tuesday, October 10th: South Philly
    Wednesday, October 11th: West Philly
    Thursday, October 12th: Fairmount/Brewerytown
    Friday, October 13th: Fishtown/Kensington

    Benefits of participation include:

    Dear Businesses,

    I am sure you have started to notice, the NFL Draft is coming... The official festival is April 27-29, the bulk of which is open to the public on a come-and-go as you'd like experience along the Parkway (with estimates of crowds nearing 200,000). The city has released details for local businesses, including a help line and details around access to areas for customers, employees and deliveries. Below are key highlights, specifically for Art Museum Area businesses...

    Promoting Small Businesses

    We have worked with the Mayor's office and Commerce Department to make sure our online business directory of local businesses (www.artmuseumareaphl.com) is included on official press announcements. We will encourage visitors to get the "local" experience by dining / shopping in the Art Museum Area during their visit.

    Get Social with #DraftDeals

    The official social media hashtag for businesses wanting to share specials is #DraftDeals. In addition to promoting on your own channels, be sure to send any specials (drink specials, themed merchandise, menu items, events, etc.) to dobusiness@fairmountcdc.org and we will list all of our local #DraftDeals on www.artmuseumareaphl.com.

    Fairmount Ave. Arts Crawl

    The Fairmount Avenue Arts Crawl has pre-emptively used our rain date of Sunday, April 30to avoid any potential complications with the NFL Draft. We have worked with the city to include information about Arts Crawl on the official NFL Draft press release.

    Road Closures

    Click here for an official list of rolling road closures. Note: customers, employees and deliveries will be able to access businesses and parking lots located in areas designated as "Local Access" at all times. 

    Logistics & Questions

    If a business experiences issues or has questions during the NFL Draft impacting their operations, they are encouraged to call the Department of Commerce's Business Services Hotline at 215-683-2100 or contact the department via email at business@phila.gov. This line will be operational for extended hours during the Draft: Thursday 4/28 and Friday 4/29 9am-11pm and Saturday 4/30 10am-6pm.

    Feedback

    Lastly, I know there are multiple perspectives on the impact of large-scale events along the parkway, particularly when a secure perimeter needs to be constructed. Following the NFL Draft, please expect to see a survey from Fairmount CDC to collect feedback from our business community on the overall impact of such events.

    The Community College of Philadelphia just launched their Power Up Your Business program, a neighborhood-based approach to support small business owners in Philadelphia.

    FREE to businesses, Power Up offers two options for participation:

    • Store Owner Series: Sign up for individual workshops in bookkeeping, marketing, and more as part of the "Store Owner Series." The first round of classes will run February-March and you must RSVP by Jan 31.
    • Peer Based Learning Experience: Apply to this 10-week class offering practical skills, peer-based learning, and personalized business coaching. Classes at CCP's main campus run May-July. Please note that the application requires a letter of support from your local CDC - please reach out to us if you are interested in applying.
